This code should be easier to maintain, and it also allows any values to be used for "p", "c", "s", and "t" (not really as important, but I've got a thing about only allowing binary parameters to have one possible value) as well as allowing for proper functioning if any of these parameters are defined but empty (which causes any parameter defaults to be ignored). Feature Request: "softer" match for recent builds / green backgrounds[]

The templates used on third-party apps pages recently switched to using the

{{v|foo}}

template as part of a "latest compatible release" column. It'd be really nice to have a "softer" match for green backgrounds... A utility that works on v1.2 is highly likely to also work on 1.2.3. The way the template is set up currently, though, if an app just stays on

{{v|1.2}}

Access to a copy of the code[]

Hi :) I'm working on the French Wiki, and I wanted to modify the Version template using the "English" code. However, I can't seem to be able to copy/paste it, even though I should be. In fact, I can't access the box in which the code is, so it would be great if anyone could simply put the code here so that I can copy/paste it back to the French Wiki. I know that :P when I do it, it opens a page with the code in a box, and it looks exactly like a regular editable section. However, due to the fact that the code is protected and also surely because I'm on an iPod, I can't access the box, when I "click" on it, it simply doesn't do anything. Therefore, as I can't access the code, I have to ask you to please help me and do it for me, it would be really great, even though you perhaps consider this as a waste of time :S Anom 23:19, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

The edit box should still be highlightable... Probably a bug with the browser used there.

First, during the launcher version addition, classic server was listed as 10000000001 instead of 10000000010.
Second, the launcher needs to link to the history section of Minecraft launcher, instead of the main version history.

PS4 and Xbox One Edition[]

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions were just released. I have a suggestion: do what you did with the Game and Launcher versions. For example, you could put the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions under one icon and the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions under another. Just a thought!

Red links[]

Hello! This template now creates many red links because it now seems to use prefixes from Module:Version/Numbers, especially for pocket and console editions as you can see in the documentation and on the main page. I saw this issue as well, but I don't think it's the MediaWiki upgrade. An admin must have made changes to the template that came with unintended results. Hopefully, this will be fixed. User:GunslingerN7 (Talk, Contribs) 04:36, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Some changes & additions that should be made[]

• "Pocket Edition" should be changed to "Bedrock Edition".
• Windows 10 Mobile should be added to the list as it is technically a separate game from buying it for Windows 10 (not-Mobile). It is technically NOT the same as the Windows Phone 8 version, which was discontinued.
• Xbox One needs to be added under "Bedrock Edition". There are already beta builds on that platform for Bedrock Minecraft.
• Nintendo Switch will also need to be added under "Bedrock Edition" when Bedrock is released on that platform.
• Windows 10 has beta versions now via the Xbox Insider Hub since the start of the 1.2 Better Together Update beta.
• Xbox One also has beta versions now via the same means as Windows 10.
• Windows 10 Mobile may also have beta versions, but I cannot confirm this. If anyone could check, that would be great.
• New Nintendo 3DS Edition should be added. Make it a separate Platform from Bedrock Edition, as it is a fork of that version that is being developed separately by Other Ocean.
• Perhaps Education Edition should be added. It should probably also be listed separately from Bedrock Edition. While it IS continually being developed from the same core as Bedrock Edition (unlike New Nintendo 3DS Edition, which appears to be going off in its own direction entirely and not sharing the same core code), it does have various exclusive education-related features added and other things disabled/removed like Realms, the Marketplace, and etc.
• The versions listed under "Java Edition" might not make sense anymore, as they are still using the now-outdated "Computer" terminology that doesn't make sense with the existence of Bedrock Minecraft on Windows 10 and even Education Edition on Windows 10 and macOS, not to mention the fact that technically phones & tablets are just as much of a computer as a laptop.
• Why is the "Beta" in "Android Beta" capitalized?

Xbox One Edition needs a separate version number from Bedrock for Xbox One[]

Ah, okay. I didn't see it in the documentation for Template:Version. The documentation has been updated to use the Xbox One Edition version number, and I've updated the editcopy of the main page of the wiki to show the latest version of Xbox One Edition again. Replace with simpler template[]

Why is this so complicated? I've created {{version/alternative}} which just uses #switch to change {{{1}}} so is there any reason we are using a complicated module? – Nixinova   07:20, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

This template was already replaced with {{version/FP}} on the front page and there hasn't been any opposition to replacing this with {{version/alternative}} so far, so I'll probably go ahead and change all of the remaining usages of this template to use {{version/old}} and move this template to Template:Version/old. Bedrock Edition versions broke (for 1.9, at least)[]

I'm not sure when this happened, but before 1.9 was released, there was 1.8 and Server software listed here that was capable of running Minecraft Bedrock 1.8 (and listed as running BE 1.8) had their "Bedrock Edition version" column marked as green; but now with BE 1.9 out, there was a possible error made that 1.9 isn't correctly marked as 1.9.0, therefore having {{v|android=1|1.9}} incorrectly marked as red, despite both meaning the same version. Also cause of that, a temporary wiki-code "hack" was made to bypass the incorrect marking and mark it correctly as green while being shown as "1.9". —Whatausername64 (talk) 14:41, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
