User:AD OffKilter - minecraft.fandom.com
I am AD OffKilter (and have been using that name in various forms for years since my UT2003 days). I spend a lot of time these days on the Wiki. At first it was just to learn, and these days it's to help contribute where I can. I think I spend most of my time patrolling right now.
I started on Minecraft Bedrock towards the start of 2021 or so just because I needed to help onboard my son onto Minecraft for a party. Then I started playing and then I was hooked. I am just surprised I didn't look into this Minecraft thing earlier! These days, however, I play exclusively on the Java edition and sadly, I don't think I can go back to Bedrock (sorry!).
In Minecraft, I am generally an all-arounder, but I do tend to focus a lot on Redstone, game mechanics (zero-ticking, etc.) and farms. I have a survival world that I started in 1.16 and have hacked my way through to 1.19 so it's a bit of a bizarre frankenstein world, but it's been really built up. Looking back to when I started it, it's definitely come a long way and I have learned a ton.
I've written a bunch of small mods for Minecraft, but only published a couple. They are mostly small things to help me out here and there, or to learn things. At times I've written things because the mod I wanted was not yet ready for the most recent release. To date I've written things such as:
- beehive info
- mod to random tick force-loaded chunks to allow crops to grow while I'm elsewhere in the world
- ability to lock newly placed observers so they don't fire (helpful when building a huge world eater)
- fog reducer
- night vision (applies same lightmap as Night Vision effect, but doesn't apply the actual effect)
- deepslate instaminer. I used another one but wanted to see if I could make things a bit smoother.
- command to get entity info and summary info
- mods to print debug info for how pistons work and how spawning behaves
I've also contributed at least one change to the carpet mod.
In my past I have played UT2003, UT2004, UT3 and Team Fortress 2 heavily online. I also wrote mods for the UT games, and even won an honorable mention in one of the Make Something Unreal contests (phase 4).
