The following is a design for a fully functional single-platform multiway train station. Most designs use one platform per track because selecting tracks using levers can be tricky as far as incoming minecarts are concerned. The author recommends that an ender chest be placed at each station and that each player using the train keep at least one minecart in the ender chest at all times. This should prevent carts from becoming unavailable due to one-way trips.

Construction[]

To add tracks, simply replicate the third and fourth columns of the schematic as many times as required. If the platform has enough tracks, some of the highlighted rails may be replaced by powered rails, in which case a redstone constant power source should be placed between them. To keep a passenger-occupied minecart going at maximum speed, make sure that the power rails are placed no further than 31 meters apart (unless they are 33 meters apart, which will also yield the maximum speed according to Minecraft's physics). To keep any other occupied minecart going at maximum speed, make sure that the power rails are placed no further than 26 meters apart.

Materials[]

For n tracks, the following materials are required. The list may vary slightly depending on the number of powered rails included.

Operation[]

The leftmost pulled lever selects the track. If no levers are pulled, the rightmost track is selected. Incoming carts are unaffected by the state of the levers.

Explanation[]

The main innovation in this design is that incoming carts bypass the railroad switches. Incoming carts travel the second row from right to left and then towards the platform, whereas outgoing carts leave the station (at the maximum speed of 8 m/s because of the three successive powered rails) and travel along the fourth row until the first pulled lever changes their direction.
