Links to be removed from Add-on.

The Reference guides section contains links to pages that used to be official Mojang documentation, maintained by User:Minecraft Staff. These pages are no longer official, are outdated, and need to be replaced by a link to the official documentation site, which is here. We might also offer a link to Bedrock.DEV, a popular creator tools site.

Current Release (26.0)
Beta (beta 26.10.23)

The Tutorials section links to wiki tutorials. We need to decide whether these are redundant with official documentation or contain extra information and are maintained enough to make them worth keeping.

  • Link #1 was created by Minecraft Staff in October 2018. It provides best practices for content creators. It has had a few updates by wiki editors.
  • Link #2 was created by Helen Angel in December 2016. It is an intro to creating resource packs, but has been augmented by wiki editors.
  • Link #3 was created by Helen Angel in December 2016. It is an intro to creating behavior packs, but has been augmented by wiki editors.
  • Link #4 was created by Helen Angel in December 2016. It has been updated a moderate number of times by wiki editors.

The Templates section contains links to the default vanilla resource and behavior packs for both the latest retail and latest Beta releases. These are provided by Mojang as templates for creating custom add-ons, but the updated Add-on page won't be the best place to publish them. They should be moved, split between Resource Packs and Behavior Packs or the corresponding tutorial pages if we decide to retain them.

This section also contains links for sample behavior packs that demonstrate the scripting engine and Molang. They should be moved to deleted if the official documentation already links to them, otherwise we can move them to Behavior Packs the tutorial on creatial behavior packs..

Templates[]

Newest Official (26.0)
Newest Beta (beta 26.10.23)
Script Engine Example Packs
Windows
This section contains content on features exclusive to the Windows version of Bedrock Edition.
This feature is only available for Windows clients of the game.
Blue Beaker BE1
The features on this section are exclusive to Experimental Gameplay in BE.
These features may be properly added in a future update, but currently require enabling one or more settings in the "Additional Modding Capabilities" section of the Game Settings menu.

The links under See also point to pages that were not created or edited by the User:Minecraft Staff account, so were never official. Data pack is sort of a Java Edition equivalent of a Resource Pack. Since this is a Bedrock-exclusive page, it doesn't exactly belong here, but would probably fit as an {{About}} link at the top of Resource Pack.

Bedrock Functions links to another documentation page originally created and maintained by Mojang. It's unclear why they didn't put it under Reference Guides section, but around this time Helen Angel noted that the add-on technology was expanding beyond the original add-on scope, so that probably explains why the link wound up here. At any rate, this is another outdated, no-longer-official documentation page that should be deleted.
