Java Edition needs updating

As of April 24th, 2024 the latest edition of Java Edition on the main wiki page is 1.20.2, this is false because 1.20.5 released on the 23rd of April 2024.

  • Java Edition 1.20.5 needs to be updated with the latest protocol, data version and resource version
    • Protocol: 766
    • Data: 41
    • Resource: 32
  • Java Edition 1.20.4 needs to be updated with the latest protocol and data version
    • Protocol: 765
    • Data: 26
    • Resource: 22
  • Java Edition 1.20.3 needs to be updated with the latest protocol and data version
    • Protocol: 765
    • Data: 26
    • Resource: 22
      • The same as 1.20.4

I am not allowed to edit the Module:Protocol version/Versions page so i figured someone else would be able to edit this.

JoystickPlays (talk)

For the main page, the latest version section is controlled by Template:Version/FP, which you should be able to edit. I've updated the module you named. SLScool 22:59, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Block Savounited1932

I am requesting that Savounited1932 be blocked from this wiki permanently for two main reasons. If a permanent block is deemed too much, a month could suffice.

1. Savounited is very trigger happy with reverting and rollbacking edits. An unfortunate amount of the time these edits are constructive, sometimes they are not perfect and need tweaking to be style guide compliant, but Savounited does not improve them, instead simply reverts them and never provides an explanation for the user, who is left clueless as to why all of their edits are being reverted by someone who is seemingly staff. Not biting newcomers is a key policy of any wiki, and not abiding by said policy gives the wiki a very poor impression. If you want people to edit here more, that behavior can't be tolerated.

Here's just a couple edits I found that display what I'm describing:

Savounited has also been reverting talk page messages sent to him that criticise him for posting illegal content.

Notably, this behavior has caused an active editor to leave this wiki, that being HITHITHIT, who cites Savounited's behavior as a reason for leaving. No user's behavior should be causing others to feel the need to leave the site entirely, that needs to be dealt with.

2. Savounited frequently copies from other wikis when making articles, despite knowing full well that this is a violation of the source's copyright, because he had been notified of this before. An example of this is the armadillo scute page. Now, one time of this is okay and an easy mistake to make, but frequently posting illegal content after being told not to is ignoring policy and disruptive.

I understand that this wiki doesn't have much of an admin force, so it's understandable why Savounited's behavior has slipped under the radar and not analysed closely. But on any wiki with an active admin force, this user's behavior would have punished rather quickly.

You may worry that blocking Savounited would be losing a very valuable editor, but I disagree. When he isn't copying illegal content that needs to be deleted, or reverting actually helpful edits that aim to improve the wiki, he's quickly making poor quality pages just for the sake of it, or so it feels like. He creates many new pages but doesn't try to expand them much, leaving them in a really short and outdated form. Minecraft features change rapidly over a couple weeks, so if Savounited has no intention of maintaining these pages that he's quickly creating, the pages could be better off not existing. A reader finding a page with outdated and therefore misleading information is, in my opinion, a lot worse than the reader not finding the page at all. So if what you're losing by blocking Savounited is a lot of outdated pages harming readers, you're not actually losing anything.

Since Savounited isn't an admin (I'm glad), you're not losing someone who is handling vandalism. If you need more people to handle vandalism, the best idea would be to contact fandom staff and see if any of them can provide assistance.

Finally, Savounited has tried to have me blocked for some rather silly reasons that don't pertain this wiki, which is rather ironic and another display of his poor behavior to other users. This does make it look like I'm making this out of revenge, which isn't true, but I suppose nothing I say can stop people thinking that, but I can say that I've planned on writing this since before he tried to get rid of me. – Unsigned comment added by Seven Hundred People at Worcestershire Parkway (talkcontribs). I fully support the request to block Savounited1932 from this wiki. These issues are serious and detrimental to the community. We can't have users being driven away by other users, we can't permit plagiarizing content from anywhere else, and bad articles are a problem too. They ignore warnings about copying content, and they continue to ignore warnings, which shows a blatant disregard for the rules, even if they follow other wiki rules. Given the severity of these issues, I have to take action to protect the integrity and welcoming nature of our wiki. This wiki will remain a place where constructive contributions are valued and editors can collaborate without fear of their work being tossed aside. StuckInAHypickle (talk) 08:13, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
I so glad that Savounited1932 (now called Titancameraisfan14) got blocked from this wiki, he's like a Gen Alpha who has a PC, found the Minecraft Wiki, and somehow became a patroller on this wiki. The reason why I called him a Gen Alpha not only because he likes skibidi toilet but also because his behaviors mentioned above was exactly what a Gen Alpha would do if given the patroller user right (man, our generation is so cooked). In fact, in my opinion, Savounited1932 is even worse than most vandals on this wiki, that's because vandals' edits can be reverted, they can be blocked, and they cannot do anything to stop that. However, a bad patroller can make non-constructive edits without the admins noticing (unless someone pointed it out), that's simply because they assume he/she is a trusted user and therefore does not check him/her. Therefore, I wanted to say that:
  1. Never let a Gen Alpha having the patroller right.
  2. A wiki with good patrollers but have a lot of vandals is better than a wiki with only a few vandals but also with bad patrollers.
That's all I wanted to say. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 08:05, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

Trying to fix Arthropods page

hi. i went onto the Arthropods page recently and noticed the list of mobs table was severely messed up to the point where it merged with the history table. after a few minutes of experimenting, i was able to fix it by editing a few lines in the source editor. i typed up a description of the changes and hit save, but got blocked but the automatic filter with the message "You are attempting to remove a section of this page. As a new user, your action has been disallowed." it told me to go here to notify the admins of it, so here i am

for reference, the page should look like this (i screenshotted the preview),

What the arthropods page is probably supposed to look like

but it currently looks like this

I cant make a REDIRECT for the Java Edition 24w14potato

When I tried to make a redirect for the Java Edition 24w14potato, I cant because when I tried, it said:

"Your action has been disallowed by an automated edit filter. A brief description of the matched rule(s) for your action is: We no longer have snapshot articles"

However, Java Edition 24w14potato is an exception because it's a joke snapshot. So I think the admin should make the redirect of that snapshot themselves. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 05:10, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion. I've added the redirect that you tried to create according to Special:AbuseLog. SLScool 05:16, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

Use of Mine Craft Patch notes for updating pages.

I am wanting to update the "Wolf" page(s) based on the Mine Craft patch notes for update 1.20.5. Are there any restrictions for using this as a source of information including copy, paste into the structure of the page? Other than referencing the patch notes, is any other form of attribution required?

SkinnySkipper (talk) 05:52, 9 October 2024 (UTC) Yes, that's fine. That's how update articles were made back when we had people who did it. You can check out those updates articles to see how it's done, including how to cite the patch notes. SLScool 14:04, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

Thank you. SkinnySkipper (talk) 02:40, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

Subject: Inquiry About Blocked Edit Hello

I tried to make an edit, but it was blocked by an automated filter with the message: "Extra protection for frequent spam targets." Could you please help me understand why my edit was disallowed? I believe my edit was constructive, and I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this. Thank you for your help! Best regards.

Request to add the 1.21 blocks' hardness values in Module:Hardness values

So I'm requesting the admins the 1.21 blocks' hardness values on Module:Hardness values since I cannot editing this page. After somewhat a lot of testing on yesterday and today (definitely not looking up to the forked wiki), I've conclude that:

I still haven't test the Winter Drop's blocks just yet, I'll annouce when I done doing so. I hope you add the hardness values of those blocks. Thank you. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 09:08, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

Uhmm, sorry but there's a typo you did on "omimous vault", not only that but you forgot to add the Chiseled Tuff and the "heavy-core" has a dash in the middle for no reason at all. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 20:00, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Move, merge, and delete files

Hey, I wanted to tell that I requested the admins to move, merge, and delete the files that I will show below:

For move, you have to move the files to their indicated file name on their "page", the reason why the files need to be moved is because they all have a bad name. Here are the files that need to be moved:

  • File:Trial Key .webp
  • File:Vault (Pre-Release Appearance).webp
  • File:Armadillo Rolled Up.png.webp
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 090007 edited.jpg
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 090423 edited.jpg
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 090517 edited.jpg
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 091258 edited.jpg
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 091412 edited.jpg
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 095220 edited.jpg
  • File:RaidOmen Effect Icon.png
  • File:Breeze rod.png
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 090155 edited.jpg
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 090239 edited.jpg
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 091911 edited.jpg

For merge, the only file that need to be merged is the file File:Trial Chambers Artwork.png.

For delete, the reason why they need to be done so is because they're either a dupe of another file, or other reasons. The files that need to be deleted are:

  • File:Crafter.png
  • File:Crafter.png
  • File:BreezeRod160.png
  • File:Breeze.gif.png
  • File:The Crafter.png
  • File:Wind Charge.webp
  • File:Wind Charge.png.png
  • File:Az recorder 20240414 091510 edited.jpg

Also not related, one final thing I have to mention is the fact that there's a donkey image on Template:Entity, which is kinda annoying for me, so I hope you can remove that. Thanks! Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 20:53, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

I've done all I can. I cannot convert files of one type to another (e.g., WEBP to PNG) just by moving them and I cannot move files to a name that doesn't match their type; because of this, I cannot move the other files. As for Template:Entity: I'm not seeing any donkey image on it. SLScool 22:52, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Don't worry, I've "reupload" all files (except for one) with different name extension into their own page with the correct name extensions, and I also removed the background, now all you have to do is to merge the remaining files to their own new files. The only one file I did not reupload was "File:Az recorder 20240414 090007 edited.jpg", in which you don't need to change their file extension, just move it to "File:Mobs from trial spawner in trial chambers.jpg". As for Template:Entity, I don't see the donkey image on PC, but I do in my mobile phone, that's strange. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 05:39, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Oh, I forgot to mention, I messed up the name of the files "File:Ominous Trial Spawner (active) JE1 BE1.png.png" and "File:Ominous Vault (active) JE1 BE1.png.png", so you have to move them to! Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 05:46, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Hey there, I did not said to delete the file "File:Az recorder 20240414 090007 edited.jpg", I said to move it to "File:Mobs from trial spawner in trial chambers.jpg" since changing the file extension is not that important and it would be completely fine with the ".jpg" extension. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 17:55, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Okay, your job isn't done just yet. So you know, 2 days ago, I uploaded about 40 files about various images of the 1.21 items. Only problem was the images were too small and I didn't really know how to resize an image without losing quality until now. Therefore today, I've resized and "reuploaded" all images (except for the white bundle, which I can't do it now just yet because it was so white that the background remover thought it was a background) by uploaded them with a slightly different name. Your job is to merge these new images with their original corresponding images, the exception is the bundle images, which you should merge their original images with their corresponding new one instead since their new names are better. Also I've "reuploaded" the files: "File:Trial Omen.jpg and "File:Trial spawner.jpg" with "File:Trial Omen.png" and "File:Trial Spawner (active) JE1 BE1.png" respectively, not only bc they have the better name, but also bc their backgrounds were removed. So you also merge the old one with the new one too. Oh and while we here, I wanted to point out that if you wait for a while on the "Crafting" section of the page Smithing Template, you'll see that the material does not match up with the smithing template. that's because the "Bolt Armor Trim Smithing Template" and the "Flow Armor Trim Smithing Template" are not a part of the "Matching Smithing Template", and the "Bolt Armor Trim Smithing Template" and the "Flow Armor Trim Smithing Template" do not have their assigned material ((Block of Copper or Waxed Block of Copper) and Breeze Rod respectively), so you have to fix that too. That's all I wanted you to do (for now), thanks! Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 14:48, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
OK, I forgot to mention that while not made by me, the file "File:Music Disc Precipice.png" is also too small, so I "reuploaded" with the new "File:Music disc precipice.png", which is the worse name. Therefore you should merge the new file with the old one. Thank you (once again)! Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 15:11, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
Ummm, I think there's some confusion here. What I meant was to move "<color> Bundle.png" to "<color> Bundle Filled.png" and not the other way around since the file "Bundle.png" looks like this Bundle JE2, and the file "Bundle Filled.png" looks like this Bundle Filled JE2. I guess it's kinda my fault for not expanding carefully, but this is not the end of the world so just move the files "<color> Bundle.png" back to "<color> Bundle Filled.png" and you're done! Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 05:31, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
I fixed the two copper blocks on the smithing template article (they were just using the wrong template). The two missing smithing templates, the breeze rod, and anything else missing will first need to be added to Template:ItemSprite. On that page, see if you can find "Edit sprite" under the dropdown. If you can, then you can probably add the images to the spritesheet yourself; if not, then it probably means only admins can do it. SLScool 07:49, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
I didn't see that, so you're probably right, only admins can do it. Also while we here, you need to do these things.
  • Clear the recent vandalism (don't forget to delete page Creaking (NEW) and File:Something the warden cant see.gif‎).
  • Move the page "File:Orange Bundle Filled Filled.png" to "File:Orange Bundle Filled.png", and delete the file White Bundle.png.
  • Merge the remaining images (including all of the pottery sherds, banner patterns, armor trims, the music disc creator, pale oak and resin stuffs, and wolf armor) I uploaded into their corresponding original images. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 10:53, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
Well, you kinda added the textures on the file "File:ItemCSS.png", but I never asked for that (although I definitely needed that). What I asked was to "Merge the remaining images (including all of the pottery sherds, banner patterns, armor trims, the music disc creator, pale oak and resin stuffs, and wolf armor) I uploaded into their corresponding original images". What I meant by that was to merge the new resized files in the original unresized files so that they have the new resized images but have the name of the original unresized files. So what you need to do now is to first undelete the "banner patterns" image and then do the thing that I told earlier. Brain Coral Block (texture) JE2 BE1 Brain180, "click here to talk" 06:38, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
