A nautilus is an neutral tamable aquatic mob. It can be tamed using pufferfish, can be bred and fed using any fish or any type of fish bucket, equip with Nautilus Armor, and can be ridden on using a saddle. It was revealed in Minecraft Live - September 2025.[1]

Spawning[]

Nautili usually spawn in all ocean biomes. Normally in groups of 1-2. Also in the ocean biomes, Baby Nautili can also spawn.

Behavior[]

Nautili are passive to players and other mobs. They use their tentacles to propel forward in water. They cannot survive on land and suffocate unless pushed back into the water.

Nautili are immune to poison. They attack pufferfishes and attract drowneds.

When a player attacks an untamed nautilus, it uses its dash attack to inflict damage on the player.

Taming[]

Nautili can be tamed by feeding them pufferfish or with Buckets with Pufferfish.

Riding[]

Tamed nautili can be equipped with Nautilus Armor and can be ridden on by using a saddle. When ridden, it gives the "Breath of the Nautilus" effect, which pauses the player's oxygen bar and prevents the player from drowning.

Breeding[]

Nautili can be bred and fed on by using any fish or any type of fish in a bucket.
