Caps?[]

You can't use ancient mobs as both proper and common nouns, it has to be one or the other. 104.162.135.168 17:27, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Where is this being done? I don't see it. The style guide, specifically MCW:CAPS, says that ancient mobs are treated as proper nouns, but other mobs are not capitalized. If you think that needs to change, start a conversation on Minecraft Wiki talk:Style guide.
Capitalizing ancient mobs was proposed because at the time, that appeared to be the standard practice in Minecraft Dungeons articles. However, there was no actual discussion on this particular point. I do agree that it would be better to treat all mobs consistently except when it's clearly a proper noun (such as "Archie"). Amatulic (talk) 13:41, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
In Minecraft Dungeons, there is only one of each boss and ancient mob. I know that it could be argued that there are more than one of each boss mob since you can replay missions, but there is only one of them in the game. It would be like saying that the Arch-Illager or the Nameless One are not proper nouns because they can be fought more than once by replaying missions. The same exact thing applies to ancient hunts. From a lore perspective, ancient mobs are clearly proper nouns, but from a gameplay perspective, they are just as numerous as any other mini-boss mob. Due to viewing the boss mobs of Dungeons from a lore perspective, we should keep the same perspective with ancient mobs. Drour1234 (talk), 22 July 2022 (UTC)
That logic isn't consistent with precedent. In the base game, there is only one ender dragon even though you can fight it multiple times. There is also only one wither at a time (unless you're a masochist). There is typically only one warden at a time. And there is only one wandering trader at a time. They are not capitalized, they are treated like other mobs. Minecraft Dungeons mobs should be treated consistently, unless they are obviously proper nouns.
I have started a discussion at Minecraft Wiki talk:Style guide#Capitalization tweak where this decision belongs. Please weigh in there. Amatulic (talk) 20:43, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
