Crafting Table JE4 BE3
This article describes content that may be included in Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.
This content has appeared in Java Edition 1.18 and Bedrock Edition 1.18.0 development versions, but the full update containing it has not been released yet.

The Warden is a hostile mob that attack anything that moves, except for other wardens.

Spawning[]

The warden spawns in the keep on top of sculk chutes. They can also spawn from sculk traps.

Behavior[]

The warden will move towards anything that moves and attack it if possible, with the exception for other wardens. When the warden is chasing a target, it's heart will throb faster.

The warden can harvest souls by killing living entities. The player does not count towards this. When the warden obtains 20 souls, it will try to pathfind to a sculk spawner. The warden will then use it to spawn a new warden.

Despite not being able to "see", the warden can still pathfind towards the player when attacked. If they are aggravated by the player too much, they will attempt to chase the player and will ignore any other distractions. Because it relies on vibration, not sight, invisibility has no effect. But like with the sculk sensor, the warden can't detect players that are sneaking.

The warden's presence will dim any nearby light sources, warning that is is nearby.

If the player tries to build upwards to avoid the warden, it will roar and throw the player off balance. It can also crawl so digging under it won’t work either.

Wardens will drop 1 Warden's Heart upon death. This can be crafted into turquoise dye.
