This page describes an edition of the game that has been officially discontinued.

This edition is no longer updated or available for download and has been replaced with Bedrock Edition.

Minecraft: Gear VR Edition was the former title of the version of Bedrock Edition designed for virtual reality on certain Samsung Galaxy devices through the Samsung Gear VR headset. It was released on April 27, 2016.^[2] Although Pocket Edition on the Galaxy Store was discontinued later on, Gear VR Edition was never made free to owners of Pocket Edition on that platform.

The recent update of Minecraft for Gear VR is the Nether Update. As of the date, Gear VR Edition never received future Minecraft updates from Caves & Cliffs, and has since been discontinued.
