Documentation?[]

While I'm sure this is doing something awesome, without documentation it makes entire sections of multiple articles basically uneditable.

… Where are the recipes coming from?

munin · Book and Quill JE2 BE2 Stone Pickaxe JE2 BE2 · 04:56, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

It uses DPL to pull the recipes from the pages they originate from. I'll document all this once I've got it all finalised. MattTalk

Continue parameter[]

I cannot seem to get the continue parameter to work. Check my sandbox and you will see what I mean. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 15:01, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

I forgot to copy over the code from my local version. MattTalk

Category parameter[]

So... the parameter {{{category}}} is not working. Would changing it to an "if statement" to override {{{1}}} instead of an "or statement" work to fix it?

--KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 23:19, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

The category parameter works fine. If you're trying to use it for the recipe type, that won't work because it's not designed for that. MattTalk

I could not even get it to work with Recipe using Redstone --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 23:27, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Okay, take that back, I can get it to work with that, provided I also provide {{{1}}} --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 23:30, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Yes, because {{{1}}} is required unless the page name happens to be the same as what you were going to use.
I think you're misunderstanding what this template does. It doesn't just blindly list the recipes in a category, it looks at all the templates on the pages in the category and finds ones that contain particular ingredients (the ones in {{{1}}}).
For example: {{crafting usage|Stick|category=Recipe using Redstone}} finds all the recipes in that category that use sticks as an ingredient.
Name Ingredients Crafting recipe
Powered Rail Gold Ingot +
Stick +
Redstone Dust
Redstone Torch Redstone Dust +
Stick

Well, then I guess I will just have to reverse engineer the code, and write the other from that. Would it be better in the same module (like grid and grid/crafting table) or separate modules? --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 23:42, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
I'll be making a separate module. MattTalk

Done. MattTalk

It does not need a template now, does it? Since we can just #invoke on the Crafting sub-pages. --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 00:38, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
I didn't bother with a template since it's just going to be used on one page and probably never going to be edited again. MattTalk

Should I head around getting the others to work, or can a bot do that? --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 01:17, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
A bot can do that. We should decide the categories first too. MattTalk

Some recent trouble[]

Majr, I was looking at Category:Empty_crafting_usage, and noticed two pages that shouldn't have been empty crafting usge. I was hoping you could shed some light on this:

Would you be able to identify why, in Coal (see also Special:Diff/1043827) why:
{{crafting usage|Coal, Charcoal}} comes up empty, but:
{{crafting usage|Charcoal, Coal}} is fine?

Also in Lingering Potion (see also Special:Diff/1043829) why:
{{crafting usage|Lingering Potion, Lingering Water Bottle|match=any}} and
{{crafting usage|Lingering Water Bottle, Lingering Potion|match=any}} come up empty, but:
{{crafting usage|Lingering Potion|match=any}} is fine? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 20:36, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Also is there some way to qualify the template on Lingering Potion, so it doesn't have that huge list of ingredients/results we see now? I'm almost sure it wasn't like that a little while ago. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 20:39, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Fixed, only the category for the last item was being queried (which doesn't exist in these cases). MajrTalk

Coal[]

The coal page has "Block of coal revision 1" and I have no idea where it comes from. Can someone please remove that? Fabian42 (talk) 22:26, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

It links ingredients that redirect to the same page[]

In Flowers under Crafting ingredient this template is used. All flowers listed in the ingredients are linked, even if they redirect to flowers. This needs to be fixed. 81.92.203.92 01:02, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

Edit Template?[]

How do you edit the Crafting Usage template when the wiki page's Crafting ingredient section only shows "crafting usage" when trying to edit the source? --Chgka1 (talk) 15:57, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Sugar and honey block inconsistency.[]

Name Ingredients Crafting recipe Description
Honey Block Honey Bottle

Empty bottles remain in the crafting grid after crafting the honey block.
Sugar Honey Bottle

As you can see, the crafting recipe from honey bottle to honey block has a description: "Empty bottles remain in the crafting grid after crafting the honey block.", this doesn't have for the crafting recipe from honey bottle to sugar. I tested and found that empty bottle do remain in the crafting grid after crafting the sugar. So this need to be fix.
