Mounts of Mayhem is a game drop that features the nautilus, and zombie nautilus, nautilus armor, and spears. It was released on December 9, 2025. It was revealed in Minecraft Live - September 2025.

It is internally referred to as "Holiday Drop 2025".

Items[]

  • Nautilus Armor
    • A new armor type comes with copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite variants.
    • Can be obtained in buried treasure chests.
    • Can be equipped on a tamed nautilus or zombie nautilus.
  • Spear
    • A new melee weapon comes with wooden, stone, copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite variants.
    • Has the same crafting recipe as shovel's, but in a diagonal form.
    • Has two types of attacks: charge and jab.
    • The faster the player moves while charging, the more damage will be done to an entity.
    • Has first appeared in Minecraft Dungeons and as an add-on in A Minecraft Movie: Add-on.

Mobs[]

  • Nautilus
    • A new tamable mob that spawns rarely in the deep ocean, close to shipwrecks, and sea grasses.
    • Can be tamed with pufferfish, then any type of fish bucket afterwards.
    • Like any ridable mobs, it can be ridden on using a saddle.
      • Can also be removed using shears.
    • Gives a new effect "Breath of the Nautilus" when ridden on, which freezes the oxygen bar.
    • Might have a chance of spawning as a baby.
    • Atrracts drowned.
  • Zombie Nautilus
    • A new neutral undead mob variant of a nautilus.
    • Can be ridden on by a drowned, forming a zombie nautilus jockey.
    • Like any ridable mobs, it can be ridden on using a saddle.
      • Can also be removed using shears.
    • Gives a new effect "Breath of the Nautilus" when ridden on, which freezes the oxygen bar.
    • Like any undead mobs:
    • Coral Zombie Nautilus
      • A new variant of the zombie nautilus that spawns in warm oceans.
    • Zombie Nautilus Jockey
      • A new hostile jockey consists of a drowned riding a zombie nautilus.
  • Camel Husk
    • A new tamable undead passive mob that spawns in deserts.
    • Can be tamed by killing a husk or parched riding it.
    • Like any ridable mobs, it can be ridden on using a saddle.
      • Can also be removed using shears.

  • Parched
    • A new undead hostile skeleton variant that spawns in deserts.
    • It wields bow and shoot players with an arrow, inflicting weakness when hit.
    • Like any undead mobs:
    • Like husks, parcheds do not burn in sunlight.

Effects[]

  • Breath of the Nautilus
    • A new status effect given on a player when riding a nautilus or zombie nautilus.
    • Freezes the oxygen bar, preventing a player from drowning.

Enchantments[]

  • Lunge
    • A new enchantment that is only exclusive to spears.
    • Has up to 3 levels.
    • Consumes hunger points depending of the level of this enchantment.
    • It only works when using a jab attack.
    • Like any enchantments, it can be used using an anvil, through an enchanting table, or by /enchant command.

Achievements/Advancements[]

  • Mob Kabob
    • Requires hitting 5 mobs with the same charge attack using a spear.

DLCs[]

  • Mounts of Mayhem: Dungeon Descent Add-on
    • A new Marketplace add-on that can be purchased for free.
    • Supports Vibrant Visuals.
    • Adds new saddle charms, decorative saddles, and a new structure: Spear Trials.

Mobs[]

  • Skeleton Horses
    • Now burns in sunlight like other undead mobs does.
      • Was later fixed in 25w42a.
  • Zombie Horses
    • Changed its texture.
    • Now spawns naturally in the following biomes:
    • Spawns with a zombie riding on it, forming a zombie horseman.
    • Now burns in sunlight like other undead mobs does.
    • Can now wear horse armor.
  • Horses and other equines
    • No longer sink in water while being ridden by a player.
    • This change, however, does not apply to saddled pigs.

    • Now no longer "bobs" in first-person perspective, when being repaired with Mending.
